SeaCliff Country Club Becomes New Site for 2006 Ed Arnold Golf Classic
SANTA ANA, CA - The Santa Ana College Foundation is hosting the 2006 Ed Arnold Golf Classic at the SeaCliff Country Club, a new venue for the tournament, on Monday, May 22, 2006. Check-in is scheduled for 10 a.m. followed by a putting contest at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start at noon. The day's activities will conclude with a no-host cocktail reception at 5 p.m. followed by an awards dinner at 6 p.m.
Cost of the event is $250 per person or $1000 per foursome and includes green fees, golf cart, driving range balls, cart lunch, on course refreshments, tee favors, and buffet dinner. Donations of $210 or more are tax deductible.
In 2003, the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Golf Classic was renamed the Ed Arnold Golf Classic in honor of Santa Ana College Hall of Fame member (1980) and Orange and Los Angeles Counties broadcasting legend Ed Arnold. Following his tour of duty with the United States Marine Corp, in 1966, Arnold graduated from Santa Ana College where he earned an associate of arts degree in business and played football for the Dons before transferring to California State University , Long Beach to earn his bachelor's degree in broadcasting.
The tournament, which can accommodate up to 144 players, will be a four-person, team-scramble format with awards being presented to flight champions and winners of the closest-to-the pin, longest drive and putting contests.
Proceeds from the tournament will support the continued development of the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame and provide scholarships to transferring Santa Ana College student-athletes. The Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame honors former student-athletes, coaches and special contributors who have distinguished themselves throughout the 89-year history of the college.
