Santa Ana College Standing Rules for Athletic Hall of Fame

These Standing Rules may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) vote at any general or special Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Committee meeting at which a quorum is present. The following shall constitute the Standing Rules for the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame.

I.	ELIGIBILTY FOR MEMBERSHIP/NOMINATION TO THE SANTA ANA COLLEGE ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME
	A.	Must have competed or coached for, or rendered extraordinary service or leadership to the athletic program of Santa Ana College.
	B.	An athlete, who has not competed at Santa Ana College for five (5) years or more, may be nominated and inducted.
	C.	A Coach, who has not coached at Santa Ana College for two (2) years or more, may be nominated and inducted.
	D.	Any members of the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Committee shall be eligible for nomination while serving.
	E.	Nomination and induction may be posthumously awarded.

II.	NUMBER TO BE ELECTED
	A.	Charter (2003) inductees for 2004 Induction – not to exceed twelve (12).
	B.	Annual (subsequent) inductees – not less than one (1) or more than nine (9) persons.
	C.	Members of the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Executive Committee may select one person and/or organization per year that has made a special contribution to the Santa Ana College athletic program.

III.	NOMINATION PROCEDURES
	A.	Any interested person may nominate by submitting, in writing, an approved nomination form to the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Executive Committee.
	B.	All nominations, in written form, must be submitted to the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee prior to, or at, the committee’s selection meeting held each March. Individuals nominated prior to, or at, the selection meeting will be considered for induction into the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame.
	C.	There is no limit on the number of times an individual may be nominated.
	D.	Nominees not elected will automatically be resubmitted for reconsideration the following year.

IV.	INDUCTEE SELECTION PROCESS
	A.	The Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee shall hold at least one general meeting each year to review nominations and to select persons to be inducted into the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame at the next induction ceremony. The selection committee shall consist of, a minimum, eleven (11) members of which eight (8) must be present for the selection process.
	B.	To be elected to the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame, a nominee must receive a minimum of five (5) votes of acceptance from the selection committee.
	C.	Members of the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Executive Committee may select one person and/or organization per year that has made a special contribution to the Santa Ana College athletic program.

V.	INDUCTION CEREMONY
	A.	To be held in the fall of each year.

VI.	CATEGORIES
	A.	Inductees may fulfill one of the following categories: Athlete, Coach or Meritorious Service.
	B.	All inductees must exemplify the highest ideals of intercollegiate athletics and prove to be of high moral character.
	C.	Meritorious service recipients must exhibit a dedication and loyalty to Santa Ana College student-athletes and the college’s athletic program.

VII.	CRITERIA FOR JUDGING
	A.	The nominee has attained high public visibility and is recognized for his or her longstanding and significant commitment to the community.
	B.	The nominee demonstrates athletic achievement, accomplishments and honors while attending Santa Ana College.
	C.	The nominee demonstrates athletic achievement, accomplishments and honors beyond Santa Ana College.
	D.	The nominee has made an outstanding contribution to the Santa Ana College athletic and/or academic program.
