Santa Ana College Standing Rules for Athletic Hall of Fame

These Standing Rules may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) vote at any general or special Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Committee meeting at which a quorum is present. The following shall constitute the Standing Rules for the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame.

I.	ELIGIBILTY FOR MEMBERSHIP/NOMINATION TO THE SANTA ANA COLLEGE ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME
	A.	Must have competed, coached, or rendered extraordinary service and/or leadership to the athletic program of Santa Ana College.
	B.	An athlete, who has not competed at Santa Ana College for five (5) years or more, may be nominated and inducted.
	C.	A Coach, who has not coached at Santa Ana College for two (2) years or more, may be nominated and inducted.
	D.	A team that has not competed at Santa Ana College for five (5) years or more may be nominated and inducted.
	E.	Any members of the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Committee shall be eligible for nomination while serving.
	F.	Nomination and induction may be posthumously awarded.

II.	NUMBER TO BE ELECTED
	A.	Charter (2003) inductees for 2004 Induction – not to exceed twelve (12).
	B.	Annual (subsequent) inductees – not less than four (4) or more than seven (7).
	C.	Members of the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Executive Committee may select one person per year that has made a special contribution to the Santa Ana College athletic program.

III.	NOMINATION PROCEDURES
	A.	Any interested person may nominate by submitting, in writing, an approved and completed nomination form to the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Executive Committee. Supplemental information (i.e. newspaper clippings) may also be submitted along with a completed nomination form.
	B.	All nominations, in written form, must be submitted to the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Executive Committee on or before February 15 of the induction year. Individuals nominated after February 15 will be considered for induction into the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame the following year.
	C.	There is no limit on the number of times an individual may be nominated.
	D.	Nominees not selected for induction will automatically be reconsidered for selection the following year.

IV.	INDUCTEE SELECTION PROCESS
	A.	The Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee shall hold at least one general meeting each year to review and submit nominations to the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Executive Committee to be considered for selection into the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame at the next induction ceremony.
	B.	Members of the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Executive Committee will vote on the recommendations sent forward by the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee for induction into the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame at the next induction ceremony.
	C.	To be elected to the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame, a nominee must receive a minimum of 28 points out of a possible 56 as voted on by the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame Executive Committee. Points are awarded as follows; seven (7) points for each first place vote, six (6) points for each second place vote and each subsequent number down to one (1) point for each seventh place vote. In the event of a tie, the tie will be broken based on the number of first place votes.

V.	INDUCTION CEREMONY
	A.	To be held in the fall of each year.

VI.	CATEGORIES
	A.	Inductees may fulfill one of the following categories: Athlete, Coach, Team or Meritorious Service.
	B.	All inductees must exemplify the highest ideals of intercollegiate athletics.
	C.	Meritorious service recipients must exhibit a dedication and loyalty to Santa Ana College student-athletes and the college’s athletic program.

VII.	CRITERIA FOR JUDGING
	A.	The nominee demonstrates athletic achievement, accomplishments and honors while attending Santa Ana College.
	B.	The nominee has made an outstanding contribution to the Santa Ana College athletic program.
	C.	The nominee demonstrates athletic achievement, accomplishments and honors beyond Santa Ana College.
	D.	The nominee has attained high public visibility and is recognized for his or her longstanding and significant commitment to the community.
