| GALLERY PRACTICES AND PRODUCTION
Art
124, Gallery Production brings together students and
prominent California artists in their studios and in our premier exhibit spaces.
Students learn to arrange artwork in our galleries and give guided tours to visitors.
The course provides practical working knowledge about mounting exhibits and running
a gallery, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at major museums. Students meet
with museum staff, curators, and preparators to gain insight into the practices
of creating and designing exhibits. Hands-on activities, lectures, fieldtrips,
and two galleries provide a stimulating and practical learning experience for
those interested in gallery or museum exhibition work. Experienced students often
directly assist gallery staff in special projects and in the planning, design
and installation of exhibits.
Art
124 Gallery Production has no pre-requisites and may
be repeated. Students work on one exhibit or several in this open entry/open exit
class. Variable units.
