Lisa Wildermuth relocated from Chicago, IL in 2006 to become part of the Santa Ana College community. Prior to teaching at Santa Ana College, Ms. Wildermuth was a Visiting Assistant Professor in Art History at Rock Valley Community College (Rockford, IL), Rockford College (Rockford, IL), and Northern Illinois University (DeKalb, IL).
Professor Wildermuth earned her A.A. in Liberal Arts from Blackhawk Community College (Moline, IL), her B.S. in Advertising from the University of Illinois (Urbana/Champaign, IL), and her M.A. in Art History from Northern Illinois University (DeKalb, IL). The primary focus of her graduate studies was in ancient art, particularly the art of Egypt. Her secondary field of study involved multicultural art, with special attention paid to the art of Africa.
Ms. Wildermuth believes instructing in the arts is about fostering an open-minded attitude. Because of this attitude and her educational background, she relates:
“I am amazed by what I am continually discovering in the world. I hope to pass along my passion for exploration and energetic interest to my students. I present art from past historical periods and different cultures as made by individuals not so different from the students of today. We as humans have similar ambitions, desires, and emotions; no matter the epoch and no matter the culture.”
At Santa Ana College, Professor Wildermuth has taught: ART 100 – Introduction to Art Concepts (classroom and online formats), ART 101 – Art History Survey (Prehistoric through Gothic), ART 102 – Art History Survey (Renaissance through Contemporary), and ART 105 – Modern Art.
