An exhibition showcasing the art of graffiti in and around Santa Ana. This exhibit will cover the hot topics of graffiti as an art, destruction of property, police codes and the expressions many feel necessary to share through their spray cans and computer made graffiti. The exhibit will include both site-specific installations of a graffiti mural done by local artists, a large scale photograph produced by SAC photography students showing the local graffiti and an audio/video installation documenting this “guerilla art”.

Over 100 faculty-juried pieces are on display, including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, blown glass, computer graphics, jewelry, stained glass and photography. Awards and scholarships are distributed to outstanding student entries at the opening reception ceremonies

“Artifacts” explores the art of contemporary artists who work with what the digital age would consider antiquated methods and equipment. The show includes nationally recognized artists working with early typeset printmaking, platinum printing, iron foundry work and sculpture.

Works on display will be from staff members at Santa Ana College. Working with faculty and students, these active artists are the backbone of the fine reputation that the SAC Art Department has achieved over the years. Work will range from pottery, sculpture and glassblowing to drawing, painting and photography.
